Employers have the option to pay the first $1000 of medical expenses for medical only claims.

 

Any measure employers can take to reduce medical costs will also help reduce premiums paid to the Bureau of Workers' Compensation.  For this reason, Professional Risk Management, Inc. encourages all employers to utilize the $1000 Deductible Program.  The advantages are:

 

Lower premiums
Elimination of medical cost being applied to the employer's claim experience
Prompt payment of fee bills

 

 

Requirements for participation include:

 

Employers must enroll  with BWC (Call 1-800-644-6292 Employer Services)
Notify injured employee in writing
Notify provider in writing
Maximum of $1000 in expenses paid per medical only claim
Maintain record of injury
Maintain record of all payments
Maintain records for 6 years
